Arkhangelsk—Gate to the Arctic

Day 1:

Arrival at Arkhangelsk. Meetup at the airport. Transfer to the city. Arkhangelsk—Gate to the Arctic sightseeing tour of the city. The city has been tied to the sea ever since it was established centuries ago. The first commercial seaport. The first sea gateway to Western Europe. The home of Russian shipbuilding. The tour is devoted to the four-century history of the city, its landmarks, and the colorful life of modern-day Arkhangelsk. Lunch. Hotel check-in. Visit to the Northern Maritime Museum. The museum is dedicated to the history of northern shipbuilding and the exploration and development of the Arctic and the Northeast Passage. Visit to the Thousand Years of Northern Navigation exhibition. Dinner.

Day 2:

Breakfast. Hotel check-out. Transfer to Kapitan Chadaev/Kapitan Evdokimov icebreaker (Quay: Sea-River Station, Ekonomiya, Bakaritsa). Boarding. Settling in the cabins. Safety instructions. Departure. During the trip, the ship provides icebreaker support to vessels in the vicinity of the Arkhangelsk Sea Port on the Northern Dvina. The program includes: sightseeing tour on an icebreaker (captain's bridge, the engine room, icebreaker's decks, galley). Meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner. Screening of documentaries about the Arctic; travel assistance.

Day 3:

Breakfast. Disembarking the icebreaker (Quay: Sea-River Station, Ekonomiya, Bakaritsa).  Trip to the Malyye Korely wooden architecture and folk art museum outside the city. Tour of the Kargopolsko-Onezhskiy section. Discover the wooden architecture of the 17th–19th centuries and get a chance to appreciate the exceptional talent of northern craftsmen. Return trip to Arkhangelsk. Lunch. Visit to the Borisov Art Museum of Arctic Exploration. The museum welcomes visitors into the mysterious world of the Arctic, with its sparkling stars, northern lights, and snow storms. Tourists will get to see old maps and Arctic sketches. Its modern design and impressive video installations will transport you to the Arctic and immerse you in the atmosphere of the Far North. Transfer to the airport.


Price per person: (includes accommodation, food, transfers, and travel support)

for a group of one person: RUB 99,000 per person, for a group of two (double room): RUB 61,200 per person, for a group of three (a double and a single room): RUB 50,600 per person.

The travel company reserves the right to alter the program as long as the listed services are provided in full during the period of the tour. Guests have the option to board the icebreaker on the 1st or 2nd day of the program.

NOTES ON THE PROGRAM: given the specifics of icebreaker support work, the exact route, boarding location, start time, and time on board will be clarified 3–6 hours prior to boarding. The travel company shall not be held liable in the event of circumstances outside its control (bad weather conditions, emergencies). It is also not liable for delays related to deviations from previously agreed-upon routes or changes in boarding times or time spent on board that are directly or indirectly related to the icebreaker performing its primary duties. In such event, guests will not have to pay any additional fee for remaining on board for a longer period for the reasons stated above.

A medical certificate is required to spend a full day on the icebreaker. Passes are required to visit icebreakers. Passport (ID) information (scans for foreign citizens) must be submitted at least 15 days in advance. Access restrictions apply to foreign citizens (USA, Canada).
