Icebreaker Shift on the Northern Dvina
1 day, upon request, period: January–April

                Visitors to the city are invited on a unique expedition providing icebreaker support to vessels in the vicinity of the Arkhangelsk Sea Port on the Northern Dvina, courtesy of the Arkhangelsk Branch of Rosmorport.

Day 1: Transfer to Kapitan Chadaev/Kapitan Evdokimov icebreaker. (Quay: Sea-River Station, Ekonomiya, Bakaritsa). Boarding. Settling in the cabins. Safety instructions. Departure. During the trip, the ship provides icebreaker support to vessels in the vicinity of the Arkhangelsk Sea Port on the Northern Dvina. The program includes: sightseeing tour on an icebreaker (captain's bridge, the engine room, icebreaker's decks, galley). Meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner. Screening of documentaries about the Arctic; travel assistance. Disembarking the icebreaker. Transfer to Arkhangelsk.

Shining Ice (1 day)
ATTENTION! Ice outburst into the White Sea—only once a year 

Once a year, icebreakers carry out flood prevention measures (ice outburst from the Arkhangelsk Sea Port water area into the White Sea). Two icebreakers take part in this process, the Kapitan Chadaev and the Kapitan Evdokimov. An ice outburst is a dramatic growth in ice flow via an outlet glacier into the ocean.

Day 1: Transfer to Kapitan Chadaev/Kapitan Evdokimov icebreaker. (Quay: Sea-River Station, Ekonomiya, Bakaritsa). Boarding. Settling in the cabins. Safety instructions. Departure. The program includes: sightseeing tour on an icebreaker (captain's bridge, the engine room, icebreaker's decks, galley). Meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner. Screening of documentaries about the Arctic; travel assistance. Disembarking the icebreaker. Transfer to Arkhangelsk.

Trip period: the last 10 days of April, depending on the start of ice drift at the head of the Northern Dvina.

Tour of an icebreaker
The Russian Icebreaker Fleet
period: throughout the year

A tour of the Kapitan Chadaev/Kapitan Evdokimov/Dikson devoted to the history of the Russian icebreaker fleet. Guests will learn about the icebreaker's construction and how it works, visit the captain's bridge (navigation room), the engine room, cabins, and galley as well as walk around the icebreaker's decks. The tour includes: a tour of an icebreaker, screening of a short film about icebreakers, travel assistance. Tour duration: 1 hour.

Price per group of 1 to 10 people: RUB 12,500 per group (tour in Russian, using an interpreter)

North passage
(group of 1 to 10 people, period: January–April)

We invite you to visit the icebreakers of the Arkhangelsk Branch of Rosmorport. After the tour, you will take a one-hour trip on an icebreaker through the Arkhangelsk Sea Port water area where you'll not only witness the icebreaker moving along the Northern Dvina but also to learn more about how it works.

The program includes: The Russian Icebreaker Fleet, a tour of the icebreaker + a trip on the icebreaker through the Arkhangelsk Sea Port water area.

Price:

RUB 125,000 per group: tour + 1-hour icebreaker trip

RUB 185,000 per group: tour + 1.5-hour icebreaker trip

RUB 245,000 per group: tour + 2-hour icebreaker trip  

 

NOTES ON THE PROGRAMS: given the specifics of icebreaker support work, the exact route, boarding location, start time, and time on board will be clarified 3–6 hours prior to boarding. The travel company shall not be held liable in the event of circumstances outside its control (bad weather conditions, emergencies). It is also not liable for delays related to deviations from previously agreed-upon routes or changes in boarding times or time spent on board that are directly or indirectly related to the icebreaker performing its primary duties. In such event, guests will not have to pay any additional fee for remaining on board for a longer period for the reasons stated above.

A medical certificate is required to spend a full day on the icebreaker. Passes are required to visit icebreakers. Passport (ID) information (scans for foreign citizens) must be submitted at least 15 days in advance. Access restrictions apply to foreign citizens (USA, Canada).
